2022-2023 Coaching Application Form
Head Coach
Required Certification: See the Coaching Requirements page at Hockey Alberta for each level.
Duties and Expectations:
- select team staff (in consultation with the executive) including assistant coaches, manager, equipment manager, treasurer, and "safety person"
- facilitate a parent meeting early in the season to discuss your philosophy, team rules, etc.
- plan and run practices
- plan and organize the bench during games
- arrange dressing room supervision for your players for all ice sessions
- maintain contact with manager regarding correspondence with the team
- work with the manager to arrange game changes, exhibition games, and tournament bookings
- ensure at least one of your team officials is "Safety" certified
Assistant Coach
Required Certification: Respect in Sport - Activity Leader/Coach/Officials
Duties and Expectations:
- Assist the head coach in all duties
Manager
Required Certification: Respect in Sport - Parent
Duties and Expectations:
- fax home game sheets to the league within allotted timeframe
- obtain travel permits for games outside of league play
- work with the head coach to arrange game changes, exhibition games, and tournament bookings
- communicate with the ice scheduler to set up times for exhibition games, playoff games, and provincial playoff games
- maintain contact with the division director regarding fundraising
- maintain contact with the head coach regarding correspondence with the team
Equipment Manager
Required Certification: Respect in Sport - Parent
Duties and Expectations:
- contact the ADMHA equipment manager at equipment@admha.ca to introduce yourself and to receive your team's jerseys
- record player names and numbers prior to distribution of jerseys
- distribute jerseys to players prior to each game
- collect jerseys after each game
- keep jerseys laundered
- maintain contact with ADMHA equipment manager regarding lost or faulty equipment
- at the conclusion of the season, jerseys must be collected, recorded, and put in numerical order before handing them back to the ADMHA equipment manager
Treasurer
Required Certification: Respect in Sport - Parent
Duties and Expectations:
- view and store bank statements (which will be placed in your locker each month)
- in consultation with the manager and head coach, allocate funds accordingly
- collect tournament fees and any other monies needed
- ensure there is a $75 balance in your account to carry over to the following year
