Important COVID-19 Information for Parents and Players
2020-2021 Season
In accordance to AHS guidelines all players must complete the health check prior to all ADMHA activities.
If a player/coach/referee experiences new or worsening of the following symptoms, they must self-isolate for 10 days or until the symptoms resolve whichever is longer; fever, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, runny nose, sore throat.
If a player/coach/referee is experiencing the following symptoms they are expected to stay home and minimize contact until symptoms resolve; chills, painful swallowing, stuffy nose, headache, muscle or joint aches, feeling unwell, fatigue or severe exhaustion, gastrointestinal symptoms, loss of taste or smell, pink eye.
Individuals are under NO obligation to inform ADMHA, coaches, or other players or parents the reason they are missing a practice or a game, if they are pursuing COVID-19 testing of the result of a test. In the case of a positive case, AHS will investigate close contacts and determine who need to be contacted.
Please provide AHS with the following contact information:
Jennifer Miller
vicepresident@admha.com
780-519-0407
Even though there is no obligation to inform ADMHA of a positive case, in the interest of safety of all players and coaches, we ask that all positive COVID-19 tests be reported immediately to Jennifer Miller(vicepresident@admha.com). This is voluntary and the name of the participant will remain strictly confidential. We request this information so we can inform other participants that a positive COVID-19 case has been reported and we can manage the spread. ADMHA will contact AHS and follow any instructions received.
For the safety of all participants, ADMHA strongly advises that all players and coaches should limit the number of cohorts they belong to and to keep their cohorts to the local community to reduce geographic spread. All participants should wait 14 days before joining a new cohort. Additional information regarding cohorts is available in the AHS Guidance for Cohorts.
Only coaches and players are allowed in the dressing rooms. If your child requires assistance getting dressed, they are to arrive to the arena dressed for practice.
Absolutely no sharing of equipment or water bottles is allowed. All water bottles must be marked with first and last name.
Player equipment is expected to be cleaned regularly throughout the season.
If a player or coach begins to show symptoms during an event, they must immediately put on a mask and leave the facility. Anyone helping the individual must wear a mask. If a player or coach show symptoms of COVID-19, the cohort will continue all games and practices, unless advised by AHS.
If a player tests positive for COVID-19, ADMHA will work with AHS to determine the best course of action. This may include the suspension of the cohort for 14 days.
Since the COVID-19 situation is always changing this information is subject to change.
Any questions or concerns please contact Jennifer Miller.
ADMHA Return to Play Plan - 15-November-2020
2020-2021 Season
Hockey Alberta has worked with Hockey Canada and other provincial branches to develop Alberta's Return to Play Plan. The purpose of the plan is to provide options for a safe return to hockey in Alberta, to outline required safety protocols and requirements, and to assist our minor hockey association with tasks they need to be undertaking for hockey to start.
ADMHA will be working with AHS, Hockey Alberta and neighboring communities to put together a safe environment for our kids to return to playing hockey. The health and safety of our players is our primary concern, and our focus is to ensure all players and their families have a positive experience in the 2020-2021 season.
Below is important information for parents/players for the upcoming season. Currently we are in phase 2 with mini-pod play. However, with the restrictions on indoor sport activities announced by the Government of Alberta on November 12, our league (NAI) has made the decision to cancel all games until November 27.
Dressing Rooms: Dressing rooms are available for all levels. Players and coaches are allowed in dressing rooms. For younger age groups, parents may enter the dressing room to tie skates, but MUST wear a mask. Players are to arrive no earlier than 20 minutes prior to practice or games and must exit the building no later than 20 minutes after.
One parent may accompany their child to assist with skates. The parent must sit in the designated area inside the arena for the duration of practice as the lobby will not be accessible.
Entering and Exiting: Players/Parents will enter through the main doors of the multiplex and go straight to the arena. Parents/Players may exit through the arena doors into the lobby and exit via the main building doors. No loitering is allowed in the multiplex lobby.
Practices: Each division will get 2 practices per week. They will be a mix of skill development and intersquad games. During phase 2, intersquad games will be non-contact at all levels. We will not be having officials on the ice during the intersquad games.
Health Check: All players/ parents and coaches will be required to do a daily health check prior to practices. Health checks must be submitted the day of practice to ensure participants are clear of any symptoms of COVID-19 prior to stepping on the ice. If a player or coach answers "yes" to any of the health check questions, that individual is not permitted to participate in any activities and must follow government guidelines for self-isolation. ADMHA must also be informed.
Hockey Academy: Players enrolled in the EPC Hockey Academy may also participate in ADMHA. The hockey academy is a school program therefor does not count as a second cohort sport group.
Facility: Players/Parents and coaches are to be respectful and follow the regulations put in place by the multiplex.
Spectators: The multiplex regulation is that there can be a maximum of 100 spectators in the arena. ADMHA executive has made the decision that masks are required for all spectators age 10 and up for ALL ADMHA sanctioned events. This includes practices and game. Masks are to be worn at all times. A ticket system has been implemented for games. Please contact the team manager for further information on how the team is distributing/assigning tickets.
Transition to Phase 3: Phase 3 will be dependent on decisions made by Hockey Alberta and Alberta Health Services.
Once phase 3 has been established, ADMHA will work closely with Hockey Alberta on moving forward.
Please keep in mind that even in Phase 3, there will still be many changes to how minor hockey will look and specific guidelines we need to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions - updated 21-Aug-2020
Late fee: ADMHA has always had a late registration fee for returning players. We did move the cut off from June 30 to August 31 as we were awaiting plans for return to play from both Hockey Alberta and AHS. Although we are currently in phase 2, we still need to plan for phase 3 of the upcoming season. We still have deadlines from the league regarding # of teams therefore need to know how many players we will have this season.
Registration Fees: Registration fees will be the same as last season. Our ice fees have increased for the 2020/21 season. We also have to consider that we were unable to run our major fundraiser this spring, and we lost our casino for this quarter due to the COVID 19 shutdown. We are still offering 2 practices per week, still have ice cost, league fees, and player insurance fees.
To clarify, we will not be playing any other communities in phase 2. This is per AHS and Hockey Alberta Return to play plan. They want to keep players in cohort groups and don’t want them to mix. All of this can be found in the Hockey Alberta return to play plan. If you have not already done so, please read it.

Entering and exiting through different doors in the multiplex is to reduce the traffic meeting each other between practices. Parents may leave practice through the main door to get their vehicle to pick up their player at the EPC loop. Players must exit through the door next to the equipment room.
Only 1 parent may accompany their child into the rink. This is to keep the number of people in the arena to a minimum. This is a facility rule and ADMHA respects the decisions made by the facility to try and ensure the safety of its users.
ADMHA has spent countless hours over the summer trying to navigate through the new guidelines, and still be able to offer hockey to our players. Please understand these are different times and we have to follow all guidelines in place to allow hockey to continue to move forward.
